DISPLAYING DESCRIPTIVE STATISTICS IN MINITAB

Descriptive statistics summarize data & help us identify the key characteristics of the data (such as average value or amount of variance). The below shows how to use Minitab to display descriptive statistics.

In Minitab software:

Choose Stats

Select Basic Statistics from the list

Next, select Display Descriptive Statistics

Next we want to select the variable to display, so in this example, highlight the name C1 Weight (grams) as shown in top left corner and then click on the Select button shown below

Next, click Statistics to display the statistic value options

In the next window, we can see the options for statistical values to display. In this example, we are adding Variance and Range by selecting the tick box next to these headings. Then click OK.

Click OK again to display the descriptive statistics that we selected

The descriptive statistics we selected will appear as shown below
