TIME SERIES PLOT ANALYSIS EXAMPLE

The below example shows the analysis that a Plant Manager of a cookie manufacturing site wanted to use to identify if changes in cookie weight were a result of time. A Time Series Plot is a useful tool to visualize the effects of time on our variable of interest and identify the median value and quartile ranges.

To construct a Time Series Plot in Minitab:

Choose Graph

Select Time Series Plot from the list

Next, we select the type of Time Series Plot we want to display. In this case, there is only one variable (one Y) that we want to analyse and no grouping so choose Simple and then click OK

Next we want to select the variable to display in the Time Series Plot, so highlight the name Weight (grams) as shown in top left corner and then click on the Select button shown below.

Finally, click OK to display the Time Series Plot
