HISTOGRAM ANALYSIS EXAMPLE

The below example shows a cookie manufacturer who wanted to analyse the variation in weights of cookies produced. A Histogram is a useful tool to visualize the distribution of the data.

To construct a Histogram in Minitab:

Choose Graph

Select Histogram from the list

Next we select the type of Histogram we want to display. In this case we want a simple Histogram with no groups or fit line so choose Simple then click OK

Next we want to select the bars to display in the Histogram, so highlight the name Weight (grams) shown in top left corner and then click on the Select button shown below.

Finally, click OK to display the Histogram
